the bridge (julia goodman)

I have been spending time at the bridge in Downtown Inverness casting paper directly on the rails. I am working under the trees, over the creek, surrounded by blackberries, meeting people as they go by. It is incredible how gentle people are here and that people leave the paper alone and let it dry while I am not there.

Some visitors tell me they never even noticed the bridge before. Some residents told me they never even noticed the accumulation of carvings. Other residents, mostly around my age and younger, tell me they remember when that carving showed up, or they remember making that mark themselves.
