Food Diary: August 1, 2009

Art making is coming slowly but surely. It has been very damp up here, and things are taking their time to dry. In the meantime, my friend Iyara is helping me make the most of all the beautiful food up here.

noon - Iyara makes a marinade for the chicken using bay leaves from the tree right in front of the house

Iyara stuffed the blossoms with a combo of local cheese and mint and lemon rinds from the garden. These were lightly fried and served as an appetizer. Mariah, Laura, Chris, Iyara and I ate them before we had a chance to take a pic...so good.

Dinner is served!

And to drink, water with lemon verbena from Bruce's garden...possibly the best smell on the planet.
